Así Somos I Who We Are is a proven concept. The overwhelming success in its debut in old San Juan’s Museo de las Américas coupled with educational outreach in Puerto Rico, clearly demonstrated that the medium of photography is cost effective in communicating cross-cultural understanding as well as a tool to bring together different communities.

But we’re not finished. We want to bring Así Somos I Who We Are to other communities in Puerto Rico and the United States. And we need your help. Your donation will support our next two initiatives:

1. Outdoor Installation: The creation of a world-class outdoor photographic installation for Así Somos | Who We Are will help bring the enormous richness and diversity of Puerto Rican people to city residents and visitors from around the world.

2. Educational Programs: Your donation will help us share the book, Así Somos | Who We Are, with groups and organizations of all kinds to help enhance their mission of education, diversity and community involvement:

   • Schools: The book presents an opportunity for exploring several subjects in a fresh and exciting way. Language and arts teachers can use it to help students appreciate and critique visual texts and learn how photography can be useful and powerful as a form of self-expression and communication.

   • Churches and Community Organizations: One of the messages of the project is that believing in oneself can help start an individual or a community on the road to hope and fulfillment. Churches and other community groups will find the book full of uplifting power and beauty.

   • Museums:  Images from the book can be used in contemporary photography exhibits, as well as in Puerto Rican cultural education programs designed to engage the public and promote better understanding and increased interest in the art form.

   • Businesses:  The book is an excellent choice for businesses looking to improve or highlight corporate social responsibility and internal diversity program. Such programs can lead to improved brand reputation and employee morale.
